Today, Valve has released a Mutation update for Left 4 Dead 2. This update adds a new game mode as part of Valve's experimental weekly game mode franchise called Mutations. Additionally, the poll results for last weeks poll in the blog of our favorite character from Left 4 Dead 2 has been released.
The original mutation that we all thought would come out would be Chainsaw Massacre, but that seems to have been pushed back without much word and forgotten about, for now... But, back to the important parts. It's time to reveal the new mutation!
This weeks Mutation is Bleed Out.

Your health is a ticking away! With constant mobs chasing you, there's no time for standing around. You have no permanent health, only temporary health that is continuously ticking away. You won't find any health packs to restore your health, only pills and adrenaline. This mutation is for Campaign mode.So to sum it up, you're playing a campaign with no medpacks and only pills/adrenaline. Kind of like an advanced version of CEVO mod that removes medpacks as well and only utilizes pills. This could be a very challenging game mode for some new players, but experienced players should blaze through this mode easily. What makes it worse is that there's a constant horde on you, so you better move fast or you'll bleed out right through your pads right onto the floor and turn into zombie dinner.Remember, each week a new mutation will be coming out, so you need to check back every week.

That may be it for an actual game change, but some other fun things were added into the blog, like the results of last weeks poll. The mystical question, Who is your favorite character? has now gotten answer.

Last week's in-game poll asking who your favorite L4D2 character was resulted in an interesting stat. 360 users were clearly Ellis fans with him winning by a wide margin with 43% of the vote. PC users were split with Nick and Ellis coming in a virtual tie with 33%. Reading the forums, Rochelle surged a bit in popularity after people watched her in "The Passing" teaser. Our internal poll tells us we should make more teasers. The winner of the 360 poll is Ellis, however, Nick and Ellis are up for a little showdown on the PC poll, because they came in a tie! That's that for the update, be sure to check out the Bleed Out Update page and see the other cool goodies, like the Boomer Plush Doll and the Left 4 Dead 2 Dev information so you can have another shot at playing a game with them this weekend if you missed out last time!
