Long story short, the original crowbar made me want to gouge my eyes out. The random splotchy paint just looked horrible and it was always blinding me with it's ridiculous shininess.
This gets rid of that splotchy paint, replacing it with some good ol' fashioned rust.
There are 3 types included. Heavy, light, and no rust. Light rust is the middle ground is probably best for most people. If you find that you want more or less rust, then go with the heavy or no rust variations.
Also a new normal map for a more worn look.
Update:
1.1 - Reduced rust levels from "iron left in the ocean for 30 years" to something a little bit more realistic.
1.5 - There are now 3 variations. Heavy rust, light rust, and no rust. The Heavy rust version was used in all the screenshots. *original vpk files were broken, they have now been fixed.
Instructions:
Extract the file to your main L4D2 folder, usually found at
C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\left 4 dead 2\left4dead2\
NOTE:
For heavy rust, use "browbar" For light rust, use "growbar" For no rust, use "trowbar"
Now open "Pak01_dir.vpk" with Notepad++ and change the line
$baseTexture "models\weapons\melee/crowbar"
to
$baseTexture "models\Weapons\melee/browbar"
AND
$baseTexture "models\weapons\melee/crowbar_Normal"
to
$bumpmap "models\weapons\melee/browbar_Normal"
VPK Instructions:
Add the .vpk to your addons folder located at
C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\left 4 dead 2\left4dead2\addons
Activate it and enjoy :D
