How to make textures GLOW in the dark

By Adam. 2 years ago

I've been wanting to make glow sights for my skins, but I just don't know how to make them glow in the dark. Any help would be appreciated.

P.S. I am currently using GIMP.

I'm pretty sure gimp can use alpha layers iirc so that tutorial should still be fine, the only difference would be the buttons you might have to press in gimp.

    Here's a neat trick

If you want a model to glow in the dark and it has a separate VTF texture there's one thing you can add to the VMF file. You can add a line called "$self_illum 1" without the quotes and the whole VTF will seemingly glow in the dark because lighting will not affect it's brightness in the game

Thanks for missing the point here, I'm sure the tutorial covers this.

As for Gimp users, you can use the tutorial almost to the letter, except you must substitute 'alpha channel' with 'layer mask' (maybe I ought to make some Gimp tutorials); though I implore you to use the 'vtf plugin' still.
