Crashing out of L4D2 for no reason (runtime error)

By Mateoski. 11 months ago

Well, the problem is that whenever I run L4D2, it likes to be a bitch and just stop working 95% of the time and for some reason, it's usually happening when I have mods in my game. Whenever I have no mods, it works perfectly.

I've tried reinstalling my game but nothing happens. Sometimes, during the loading screen, my game freezes I know this because the loading time suddenly stops and doesn't continue on afterwards.

Afterwards, once I crash on back to the desktop, I get the infamous Runtime error message.

Sometimes, I CAN actually make it into the game WITH mods enabled, but sometimes, I can't even make it halfway into the campaign without getting another runtime error.

Other times where I actually DO make it to the saferoom and finish the level.......only for me to be happening across another runtime error.

For some reason, it only happens when I have mods in my addons folder. Whenever I don't have any mods, it works just fine.

Later on today, I'm going to be making some more gameplay footage of a custom L4D2 map and I'm NOT going to be dealing with this runtime error nonsense.

Can someone give me any suggestions?

Here's a video of what I'm talking about.

try update the Microsoft C++ or dedicate more heapsize ( RAM Memory ) for your Left 4 Dead 2.

    Try -heapsize 2048000

    that's 2Gb.

For me it was all down to one custom map. Don't spend hours on this one trust me, just check which map it happens on and then delete that map for good!
